I made a slight edit to this after listening to myself read it. I made succotash out of the section on the Rhizobium bacteria by mixing beans and squash here and there. So for the listeners out there who may be confused, sister bean is the one hosting the nitrogen manufacturing facility.
Love this, thank you. I was given the RWK book by a girlfriend and the seeds, in recognition of our sisterly relationship and planted the 3 seeds of each of the 3 sisters. Apart from the slugs (we have the opposite weather to you here in the UK) its all going well.
We are finally beginning to realise that plants live in community just like we do.
Reading Suzanne Simard 'Finding the Mother Tree' she contributed so much to this understanding.
Thanks for sharing, Carol. In a couple months the slugs will emerge here as well, as will the UK-like weather. I can't wait.
I love how RWK elevates the status of plants (especially trees) by reminding us that they know more than we do otherwise they would have existed as long as they have. Consilience is the only path forward in my mind.
Thanks for the 'Finding the Mother Tree' reference. Another book! 🙏🏼
