Reminds me of the cartoonist Ding Darling who was a conservative “Hoover Republican” and he had a huge influence on environment conservation…first with his nationally syndicated cartoons and then as a member of the Committee on Wildlife Restoration and then Chief of the Biological Survey. Back when “conserve” was part of being a “conservative”!
I think back on the irony that it was a bunch of Republican Boy Scout leaders who were in the military that instilled my pro-environmental views.
